Its often hard to believe why a talent like Mahima Choudhary has not been able to give as many hits or as good a performance as was expected from her. With her last releases Deewana and Dhadkan, Mahima has almost confined herself to special appearance.
Mahima was born on 13th September, 1973 in Kewlona, Canada, with the birth name Ritu. She has a brother Siddharth and sis Akanksha. Mahima completed her graduation from Parle College, Mumbai.
She was a well known face in the modeling circuit and was based in Delhi. She featured in the Pepsi ad about a decade ago, when the self-styled showman, Subhash Ghai noticed her. With the obsession for the letter M, Ghai renamed her as Mahima.
He launched her opposite Shahrukh Khan in 1997 with the blockbuster film Pardes. This was a dream debut for any newcomer and she could not stop praising her mentor enough. But soon they split due to certain difference. Mahima was kicked out of Taal and in stepped the petite Aishwarya.
Mahimas careerograph has had its ups and downs. She went on to do a string of films which failed to achieve commercial success. These were Daag-The Fire, Kurukshetra, Pyaar Koi Khel Nahi, Dobara, Home Delivery and Kuch Meetha Ho Jaye to name a few.
Her image as a superstar had gradually taken a back seat when Mahima did a few good films like Om Jai Jagdish, Baghban and Ajay Devgans home production Dil Kya Kare. Unfortunately, these films did little to get Mahima the desired fame. Her offbeat film Lajja also went quite unnoticed even by the critics. Since a couple of years, Mahima has been quite aloof from Bollywood.
Mahima very recently gave birth to a healthy baby girl in Mumbais Leelavati Hospital. Apparently, she had married Bobby Mukherjee, an architect, in March this year ( she was already carrying his baby then ), in a quite ceremony held in Las Vegas attended by close relatives only. This has surely come as a shock to everybody and whether or not Mahima will continue doing films is the million dollar question now !
